I see my self as wearing several woodcarving hats:

As a carver I have been woodcarving since 1975, originally studying under a master woodcarver: the late Gino Masero, and am a member of the Master Carvers Association.
My work is mainly commissioned and ranges from architectural to figure carving; including furniture, lettering, bedheads, fireplaces, mythical and abstract sculpture.

As a teacher I have been running woodcarving classes in England for many years. I am on the faculty at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine, USA where I teach regular carving courses.

As a writer I am the author of:

I write articles and review tools and books for magazines - in particular Woodcarving (UK) and Woodcarving Illustrated (USA).

I'm not really the one for writing a full biography, but I'll answer odd questions here in a way that will (eventually!) illustrate me...

Several of you have asked:

  1. What/where was your first workshop?
  2. What was your first woodcarving?
  3. What did you do before you took up carving?
  4. What do you like doing when you are not woodcarving?
  5. Are you artistic, then?
