After high school I went to study medicine, for 4 years, at University College, Cardiff and the Welsh National School of Medicine.
It seems another life now.
So, in my background is a layer of science - which I've always enjoyed.
The anatomy has been very useful of course.
I also believe that the fairly rigorous training helped me later to write and teach woodcarving well and clearly.
Why did I leave? Well, this begs other questions of why I was there in the first place; and why I stayed so long...
But, hey! those are other questions!
