Several of you have asked about MY FIRST WORKSHOP

My first workshop I had been working in the top floor flat in a Victorian terraced house but I was getting a bit too noisy...

My first proper workshop was this lockup shop in Cardiff, Wales, which I rented in 1975. The Red Dragon is the emblem of Wales, hence the name.

You can see the street reflected in the window. The shop had just the one room, but a great big window to let the light in. And it was cheap...

This is a rare picture - I used to carve in a sepia haze in those days. I am about 23 and had been carving a few months.

Here I am working on a rocking horse that a friend had commissioned, so keeping me off the streets.
I wince now: I really didn't know what I was doing; but I did it anyway.

I like this picture, if only for the hair...
