"After watching the Lettercaving DVD, your lettering book 'came to life' for me!
The problem with books is that the author has no feedback on what has not been well understood and what habits need to be modified or corrected. Rob's presence provides that to you on the spot.
What is difficult to illustrate in a book is crystal clear on the screen."

Lettercarving is one of the most useful carving skills you can learn: decorative, commemorative; signs and signing; always a 'good earner'.

Want to see and learn the heart of it?

Let me show you: this DVD is next best thing to joining me at the bench for a personal lesson!

Lettercarving is straightforward and really only uses a few basic carving skills - but you have to know what you are doing.
I've described the whole process in my book Lettercarving in Wood - A Practical Course but there is nothing, nothing, that beats being shown.

"Seeing is believing!"

In this DVD I show Rob Cosman (a complete beginner at woodcarving), in complete and intimate detail, the 4 fundamental skills you need to carve letters successfully.
You participate, as if I am personally giving you a masterclass in my workshop!

I take Rob step by step through these fundamental skills of lettercarving. I work entirely with him; I don't look at the cameras once. I show him; he copies me. He makes mistakes; I correct him. He asks the sort of questions beginners ask and I give him clear explanations and answers.

Additionally there were 4 cameras filming the whole process. One camera was in the ceiling, focussed down on the wood and letters. You can see every detail very clearly, just as Rob and myself saw it.

So, if you really want an insight into lettercarving, here it is!

By the way: my book Lettercarving in Wood - A Practical Course contains lots more information about lettering and letterforms - it's essential background information to what I am doing here. To maximize your efforts to become a competent lettercarver, I strongly advise you work through it in conjunction with the DVD, rather than see the book or DVD as alternatives.
