This fire surround, for a large old farmhouse, is 8ft (240cm) wide and carved in French Oak. The part you see here is about 20in (50cm) tall.

What you see here are photos of the fire surround that I took in the workshop before it left.
My control over the work ended when the carving was delivered to the site for installation, and the lovely coloured wood was stained a dark brown!
I hated the result and have never photographed the final piece in situ.
