Mahogany. Summer 2001

Author's Notes about the Carving.

I was inspired by Chris Pye's greenmen and wanted to try to make one of my own.
The carving itself was very enjoyable once I got things blocked in a bit and there was a recognizable form to go with.
I still have alot to learn about finishing and had a bit of trouble getting the consistancy of my beeswax where I wanted it.

This greenman now lives in my house at the joint of two big ash beams between wall and ceiling.
I'm quite pleased with how he looks peering down from above.

About the Carver.

I am just learning to carve. Unfortunately I can't spend every waking moment carving, so progress is slow!

Would you like to contribute an interesting, contemporary, Green Man (gargoyles, grotesque etc) woodcarving?
Or have you a friend you could encourage to have their work shown?
Yes? Then I'd love to here from you!

Write to me, telling me a little about it first.
Thanks!
