Author's Notes about the Carving.

I first saw green men in Chris Pye's book and was fascinated. I liked the melding of human and natural forms.
I was taking another workshop with Chris so I had a good opportunity to work on a green man under his tutelage. The face in my design is from an old photograph of a friend of mine.
And I chose to use Maple leaves to add some Vermont regional flair.

About the Carver.

My name is Dan Ober. I am a cabinetmaker who lives in Vermont.
I started carving a few years ago just to add a few twists to my work and hopefully separate me from the flock of talented woodworkers in my area.
After taking an introductory wood carving workshop with Chris Pye I got inspired to do more of it. I now hope some day to be able to call myself a woodcarver.

Would you like to contribute an interesting, contemporary, Green Man (gargoyles, grotesque etc) woodcarving?
Or have you a friend you could encourage to have their work shown?
Yes? Then I'd love to here from you!

Write to me, telling me a little about it first.
Thanks!
