Chris Pye:
Key Notes on Sharpening Woodcarving Gouges

Despite (or perhaps because of!) having written about sharpening in various books and magazines, I always seem to have to cover it again with students.

There are certain fundamentals about sharpening that I tell students all the time and I wrote what I rather hoped were key ideas: sort of bullet points - short and sharp enough for readers to memorize and keep in mind as they commission their carving gouges.

These notes don't pretend to cover the material in my books, especially Woodcarving Tools, Materials & Equipment Vol. 1.
