A thoughtful book; the author is making nothing less than a study of the Green Man image: its history and origins in myths, stories and legends
Anderson discusses too the resurgence of this image and relevance for today, as indicated by the subtitle: 'The Archetype of our Oneness with the Earth'. I'm not sure I agree with all of it but it makes fascinating and stimulating reading.

The many examples of Green Men are well photographed and a great source of inspiration and models for woodcarvers.
This and Basford's 'The Green Man' are my most useful reference books on the subject.
