I wrote the first edition of this book in 1994 and have since found it called a 'standard reference', even a 'bible'.
I have been delighted by this reception - it was always my aim to help woodcarvers carve to the best of which they are capable and these comments, and others, point to the book's success and usefulness.
This new 2 volume edition does not invalidate any of the information contained in the original, most of which is pretty timeless.
But it is a thorough overhaul of the contents with updating to include new tools and equipment that have appeared on the market. It also expands on valuable techniques such as routing and modelling.
Additionally the whole look is fresh, accessible and re-photographed in colour!
I am sure the resulting two volumes of this book will prove even more indispensible to carvers than the first edition.
